The story reveals what keeps you from having what you want. As a Feng Shui Design Detective, I “read” the clues in your space and create a blueprint for you to follow so you can live your best life.
One of the first steps of a Feng Shui Floor Plan Reading is to draw a floor plan of your living space, including the location of your stove, front door, bed, and fireplace (if you have one). Here is a question I get asked often:
Question:
When I draw a floor plan of my house for you, why do you want me to mark the stove's location? How important is my stove in Feng Shui?
Answer:
The location of the stove in your home is critical. Not only the location of the stove in relation to the whole house but also the location of the stove in the kitchen. The stove gives clues about your opportunities to make money money. The stove is considered the “wealth generator” in your home. What does your stove look like? How do you use your stove? How clean is your stove?
Follow these tips to increase your prosperity:

- Make sure all parts of the stove are working well. That means all the burners, knobs, grills, cooktop, and oven. If a part is not tip-top, your ability to generate money is limited. The more that is broken, the more restricted you are. If you have a four-burner stove and only two burners work, you limit 1/2 of your opportunities to make money.

- Use all the burners, not necessarily at the same time. You can rotate the use of burners: one meal can be cooked on the front burners, another on the back burners, or some other combination. The key here is to use each burner; you utilize all your resources to generate wealth. Using the burners does not always mean you have to cook. I have a client who does not cook, but she uses her stove to light incense. She uses a different burner each time she lights incense.

- Keep the stove clean. Make sure all spills and splatters are wiped up after each use. That includes the rings under the burners, backsplash, knobs, grills, exhaust fan filters, and the stovetop. A messy stove slows down your opportunities. Think of it as the “clutter” of your stove. Cutter drains your energy and ability to access clarity, prosperity, and opportunities.

- Do not store anything on the stovetop, including pots or pans, burner covers, cutting boards, or appliances. The burners should be clear. This shows you are ready for prosperity and opportunities. A teapot on the stovetop is the one exception. So, if you are a tea lover, you are in luck; you may keep your teapot on the stovetop.
Take a moment to reflect on your prosperity and the opportunities you have to create wealth now. Next, look at your stove, determine what needs repair, cleaning, or use, and make an action plan. Remember, your stove is your home's “wealth generator”; if you take care of it, it will take care of you.
