What did you want to be when you grew up? Did that dream change over time? Are you living the dream? Often your childhood dream leads you to your purpose or calling. Sometimes your calling finds you, it is that thing you do that fills you with passion, makes you feel alive. From the time I was a young girl I knew I wanted to be a teacher. When I was ten years old I gathered the other children in my neighborhood, brought them to the picnic table in the backyard and opened my school. I taught them math with worksheets and personal attention. I gave the instruction and then I walked around helping each student get the answers.
When I grew up I got sidetracked from a teaching career for a short time but I was teaching on the job I had. I trained new employees, just another form of teaching. When I got my first high school teaching position I was living my dream. My dream morphed a bit and the theme of teaching is always there for me. I approach everything I do from a teach them mindset. I love teaching, public speaking, and coaching. What is it that you love? What is your calling?
