Is It Destiny or Choice? The Answer May Surprise You

July 25, 2018 by @elioverbey

Ever wonder if there is Destiny or is it all about our Choices?

Have you ever asked yourself “Who Am I?

Why Am I Here? or

What Is The Meaning of Life?

In working with clients I notice 3 age groups that people ask these questions.

The first time is in the teen age years.

“Who Am I, how am I different from my parents? This is a big one, they want to find their own identity. A place they can plant their flag in the sand and claim who they are.

What am I supposed to do with my life?

What is the meaning of life anyway”?

My whole life is ahead of me and I can choose what I want to do with it. If I only knew what to do.

When I was teaching I noticed that high school students had a zest for life, a searching for who they are and how they fit in with friends, family and the future.

The Second time is during the early 40’s.

“Who Am I — I am not sure I like who I am becoming. My career is not fulfilling me.

Is this all there is?

What can I do that will make a contribution? How can I get more meaning into my life”?

It can be a time of spiritual awakening, looking to answer the question “why am I here”.

It is more than finding a life purpose. It is a deeper calling from within that will no longer be silent.

The search is on. There has to be a way to make a living, make a difference and feel fulfilled.

The third time is at retirement. Whatever age that may be.

“Who am I now that I do not have my career?

When people retire they have spent a lot of time at their career. It has become part of their identity.

I remember the first time I went to a social gathering after I retired as a high school principal and people asked me what I did for a living(the normal question). I proudly announced that I was retired. It was like I had no value. They nodded and walked away. The conversation ended.

What is my value without my job? A question every retiree must answer.

I don’t want to sit in a rocking chair and waste away.

What is the meaning of my life now?

I don’t know how much time I have so I have to make it count.

Some give up and sit in that rocking chair. Others reinvent themselves and continue to live a vibrant meaningful life, making a contribution and a difference in the lives of others.

What age levels have you experienced?

Perhaps you know people struggling to find answers to the basic life questions. Hopefully this gives you insight in to the journey we all take at some point in life.

Destiny is both pre-determined and full of choices.

Your gender, ethnicity, eye color, family, birth place are all pre-determined.

You choose your friends, education level, school and life activities, where you live, your career, how you spend your money, your relationships, marriage or not, and how to spend your time.

We always have a choice about how we respond to our circumstances. We can see the gifts a challenge brings and the potential for personal growth or we can feel victimized and get stuck in a negative cycle.

You have a Destiny Code that reveals your talents, personality traits, areas of challenge, life themes and areas for growth in this life that can help you unlock your personal Destiny Blueprint.  This Destiny Code is pre-determined by your birth information. The time, day, month and year you were born.

Your Destiny Code holds the clues and secrets to the questions we ask throughout our life. Who am I?, Why am I here? and What is the meaning of life?

Unlocking Your Destiny Code

February 13, 2018 by @elioverbey

Would you like to live in the flow, feel more freedom, and have more fun?

Imagine waking up knowing you are in flow with your natural rhythms, aligned with your purpose and filled with excitement about your day.

Sometimes you follow all the rules or the expectations of your boss, partners, colleagues, children, and society.  It is easy to lose who you are when trying to always please others. What happened to your wants and your needs? There is not much room for you to experience flow, freedom or fun when you continually put others needs and expectations above your own. [Read more…]

27 Ways To Increase Your Luck In The New Year

December 13, 2017 by @elioverbey

It was a sunny day and I was driving to meet a friend. I stopped and waited to make a left turn. I had my turn signal blinking but the boy driving behind me did not notice that I was stopped. Wham, I was hit from behind. My car was thrust forward about 25 feet, my glasses ended up in the back seat, and I was stunned, shaken and not quite sure what had happened. When the kind man walking on the sidewalk heard the crashing he immediately ran through oncoming traffic to my aid reassuring me that I would be alright.

He stayed with me, gently talking to me, helping me to calm down. Not only his kind words but his presence was comforting to me.  He appeared out of nowhere at just the right time to be of assistance. When help arrived, just like that he was gone. His act of kindness meant more to me than he may ever know.  Although I was not able to repay him I can pay it forward by doing a kind deed for someone else. [Read more…]
