I remember where I was the first time I tasted Chai. I was staying in an ashram in New York for a week. It was 5:00 a.m. and I had just finished praying, meditating, and chanting for 2 hours. We walked in silence into the dining room where the lights were very low and the only sound I could hear was the sound of the chai pouring from the spout into the cups. The smell of the cinnamon wafting through the air was delicious. I was in a deep peace. When it was my turn I took the cup of chai and held it in both hands, feeling the warmth of the cup in my fingers. I smelled that wonderful mixture of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, tea, and milk. When HH Grandmaster Lin Yun Rinpoche was asked what we could do to help the USA’s economic crisis he told us to get everyone to do a good deed a day for 27 days in a row.
Because the crisis was created by compounded greed the solution is to do good deeds also known as random acts of kindness.
So come on let’s be pro-active and turn this thing around! It really is that simple.
