When you wake up in the morning what is the first color you see? Your ceiling, a piece of furniture, or your sheets? Color influences your mood and your mindset from the time you wake up in the morning until you go to bed at night.    Color also impacts the flow of chi/energy in your home and the flow of chi within you.

Adding or changing color to your space is one of the fastest ways to change the energy of your home or workplace. When choosing color for a room keep in mind how you want to feel in the room before making a final decision. Remember, though, that some colors work well in some rooms but not in others. Each color has a unique quality and you can intentionally use color to create the qualities you desire.

Feng Shui Color Tip

You must love the colors that surround you. I am referring to the Bagua. Many people think because an area of the Bagua is pink, they must paint the room pink. That is great if you love pink. It is an awful idea if you do not love pink because every time you walk into the room you will subconsciously cringe as you look at pink. That cringe depletes your personal chi/energy. You want the colors around you to nourish you and build your chi/energy.

Feng Shui Qualities of Color

  • Green – tranquility, new beginnings, growth
  • Red – strength, attracts chi, luck, prosperity
  • Earth Tones – stability, depth, deep roots
  • Purple – inspires respect, rich
  • Yellow – power, tolerance, patience
  • Blue – hope, peace, calming
  • Black – depth, wisdom, contemplation
  • Pink – love, pure feelings, happiness
  • Gray – balance, resolution of conflict
  • White – purity
  • Orange – happiness and power
  • Peach – attraction and love. Good for a single person looking for a relationship

Notice your favorite color and find the qualities shown here. Do you have those colors in your home or workplace? What colors do you love that you want to bring into your space? What qualities do you want to incorporate into you home or workplace? Remember a small amount of color in a picture frame, a pillow, intentional art and other decorative items bring the qualities of the colors into your space.

Have fun with this and let me know how it works for you.

Love color. And to know the colors draw me in and what those mean for me. Thank you for reminding us to be sure we use the colors that resonate for us … not because they are decoratively popular …. Joan
