Do you know the way you have your space arranged tells a story about you?  Your choices of color, artwork, furniture, as well as the design details impact every area of your life i.e. your wealth, health, relationships career, and your opportunities.

The story reveals what keeps you from having what you want.  As a Design Detective I “read” the clues in your space and create a blueprint for you to follow so you can live an extraordinary life.

I am considering painting my bedroom and can't decide which color would be best. Does Feng Shui have anything to do with colors?

Color is one of the most powerful design elements of a room. Imagine your bedroom walls right now as white and notice how that feels to you. Now imagine the walls to be green and notice how that feels. Try bright yellow and notice how that feels. Color selection does create the moodcolor wheel which affects your personal energy every day. We all have favorite colors and others that we do not like.

Here are 3 things to consider when choosing color for your bedroom:

  1. The bedroom is the place you rest, and rejuvenate yourself and you want to feel comfortable and renewed when you wake up in the morning.
  2. Begin with colors that are your favorite. Nothing is worse than to paint your bedroom a color that you think is the “right” color if it is a color you do not like. I have worked with people that have tried to do their own Feng Shui and painted their bedroom a color that matched the bagua color and it was not a color they even liked. The result is your energy drops every time you walk in the room or open your eyes and see the walls. Any color you do not like will drain your personal energy and may lead to illness, loss of opportunities, bad luck and stress.
  3. What kind of mood do you want to create in your bedroom? Relaxed and peaceful, then light pastels in green , blue or pale yellow work well. Want a happy marriage, pink symbolizes marital bliss. Only use pink if it is a color that all people sleeping in the room like. Want more energy, you may try brighter colors like red, orange, or bright yellow. Although bright or bold colors are uplifting when you sleep you want to be able to relax and sleep soundly.

Take some time to decide what colors are your favorite and what kind of mood you want to create in your bedroom, then begin looking at color choices.
