Do you know how your space is arranged tells a story about you? Your choices of color, artwork, furniture, and design details impact every area of your life, including your wealth, health, relationships, career, and opportunities. The color of your bedroom has a big impact on your daily life.
The story reveals what keeps you from having what you want. As a Design Detective, I “read” the clues in your space and create a blueprint to follow so you can live the life you want.
When you change one thing, the change ripples into all areas of your life. A small change, such as the color of your bedroom, can make a big difference.
Bedroom Color Question:
I am considering painting my bedroom and can't decide which color would be best. Does Feng Shui have anything to do with colors?
Color Answer:
Color is one of the most influential design elements in a bedroom. It impacts sleep, rejuvenation, and well-being.
Imagine your bedroom walls now as white, and notice how that feels. Now imagine the walls as green, and notice how that feels. Try bright yellow, and notice how that feels.
Color selection does create a mood, which affects your energy every day. We all have favorite colors and others that we do not like.
Here are 3 things to consider when choosing a color for your bedroom:
The bedroom is where you rest, relax, and rejuvenate
Your job is to create a peaceful place to unwind, rest, and sleep. The colors in your bedroom impact how you fall and stay asleep. You want to feel comfortable and renewed when you wake up.
Begin with colors that are your favorite.
Nothing is worse than to paint your bedroom a color you think is the “right” color if it is a color you do not like. I have worked with people who have tried to do their own Feng Shui and painted their bedroom a color that matched the bagua color, but it was not a color they even liked.
Your energy drops whenever you walk into the room or open your eyes and see the walls. Any color you do not like will drain your energy and may lead to poor health, loss of opportunities, bad luck, and stress.
What kind of mood do you want to create in your bedroom?
Light pastels in green, blue, or pale yellow work well if you want to be relaxed and peaceful.
If you want a happy marriage, pink symbolizes marital bliss. Only use pink if it is a color that everyone sleeping in the room likes.
If you want more energy, try brighter colors like red, orange, or bright yellow. Although bright or bold colors are uplifting when you sleep, you want to be able to relax and sleep soundly. Bold or bright colors impact your ability to fall asleep and stay asleep.
Take time to decide what colors are your favorite and the mood you want to create in your bedroom, then look at color choices.
