During our discovery session, she told me she felt “stuck” and unable to move forward. Her romantic relationship was in a holding pattern. She was not getting new clients in her business and running out of money. She did not know what to do.
When people tell me they are stuck, I know the flow of subtle energy in their homes is out of harmony. If I go to their homes or read their floor plan blueprints, I almost always find clutter: a pile of bills on the table, kitchen counters filled with appliances, bedrooms with too much furniture, or stacks of books.
When the subtle energy flow in your space gets off, clutter increases. When the subtle energy flow within you slows down, it is easier for you to create more clutter in your space and your thinking. Sometimes, the feeling of being stuck or lacking focus can result from too much clutter in your space.
Your home is your sanctuary, where you rejuvenate and prepare to face your life daily. Feng Shui principles help you turn your home into your refuge, a place to restore, refresh, replenish, and rejuvenate yourself.
“Being in your home should feel as sacred as being in your lover's arms.” Do you feel that way in your home? Too much “stuff” in your space adds to feelings of overwhelm, chaos, and stuckness.
Never underestimate the impact of clutter on your life.
Would you invite a robber into your home? I don’t think you would knowingly let a robber into your home. Yet that is what happens when you allow clutter to occupy space in your home. Clutter is another kind of robber that sneaks in and takes up residence. Clutter robs you of your vitality, your time, and your money.
Here is what it looks like from a Feng Shui perspective:
Vitality – When your space is tidy, you have better “flow,” which adds to your health, strength, and liveliness. Clutter slows down or blocks the flow and drains your energy, robbing you of your vitality. You may be left feeling tired, depressed, and uninterested in life.
Time – When your space is not tidy, it isn't easy to know where everything is. Have you ever looked for a kitchen tool, a particular pair of pants, or a specific book? You thought you knew where it was.
You look under, over, and around and spend much time trying to find it. Precious time is wasted looking for something that will not be found. How long do you look for things before you give up and search again later? Your time is robbed again.
Money—Have you ever forgotten that you had something like a book and bought another one? Or could not find what you were looking for, so you decided to buy another one?
Do you buy items that you already have because you misplaced them or because you forgot you had them? When you buy duplicates, you are paying for items twice, and that is another way your clutter robs you of your money.
Clutter impacts your life by robbing you of health, vitality, time, and money. If you want better health, more time, and money with increased vitality, tidying up is a task well worth your effort.
