Your Kindness MattersYour kindness matters. Kindness isn’t just about grand gestures; it’s found in our everyday choices—how we treat strangers, respond to challenging moments, and support those around us. The beauty of kindness is that it has a ripple effect.

When you lead with compassion, positivity, and sincerity, you encourage others to do the same. By practicing kindness in simple ways, you help create a brighter, gentler, and more connected world.

Do you feel you are a kind person? You can look back at past actions, and pinpoint things they would handle differently. I am sure we can all look back and remember times when we should have been thinking about the needs of others more.

How Kindness Changed Emily's Mindset

Emily, a busy online entrepreneur, often found herself overwhelmed and frustrated. She prided herself on efficiency but rarely took time to connect with others. She assumed kindness was simply about being polite, but beyond that, she didn’t see its value.

One day, an assistant, Jan, was struggling with a project. Instead of brushing it off as “not her problem,” Emily offered to help. It was a small act—just reviewing Jan’s work and giving feedback—but Jan’s gratitude was overwhelming. That moment made Emily realize that kindness wasn’t about grand gestures but being present for others.

Inspired, Emily began practicing intentional kindness. She greeted clients warmly, genuinely listened in conversations, and offered encouragement. The more she gave, the more she noticed a change—not just in how others responded to her but also in her mindset. She felt lighter, more connected, and even less stressed.

Over time, kindness became a habit, and Emily found that her work and personal life felt more fulfilling. By shifting her focus from productivity to compassion and connection, she discovered that kindness wasn’t just good for others—it was transformative for her well-being. She realized kindness matters.

This simple shift changed everything.

Your Kindness Matters Tips:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
You have likely heard this phrase before, but it is, after all, the golden rule. At least, it should be! Why wouldn’t you adhere to this phrase? It’s so simple in meaning, yet people still don’t follow it. If you use only one tip, let it be this one. Kindness changes everything in relationships and well-being.

Know what kindness means

Before you can be kinder, it’s essential to know what it means. Kindness can mean different things to different people. One definition that works well can be found when you search for the meaning on Google: “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.” It's more than just being nice; it involves treating others with respect and generosity.

Be genuinely kind

People mistakenly believe that spewing out compliments is the way to be kind. However, that isn't a compliment when you don’t mean what you say. It could end up hurting the person you are providing the false compliment to. For instance, if you tell someone they look good and then talk badly behind that person’s back, that could haunt you. It’s better to say nothing than to give false compliments. Look for something you can genuinely compliment about. Maybe it is a positive attitude, their perseverance, or someone's kindess.

Radiate positivity

You won’t be as likely to extend kindness to others with a negative attitude. On the other hand, when you stay positive, you’ll find that being kind is much easier to accomplish. Positivity is an inside job. What uplifts you and makes you feel alive? Do more of that. I find great joy and happiness in painting. It is part of my morning routine.

Set a good example

When you lead by example, you will have a much easier time getting people to follow you. If you treat people kindly and fairly, those who look up to you will do the same. So, not only will you be a kinder person, but you will also make the world around you kinder. Your kindness matters.

Walk a mile in other people’s shoes

When you see life from someone else’s perspective, you can more easily empathize with them. Before judging someone unkindly, consider their circumstances and how you’d feel in the same scenario. Let your compassion and kindness brighten someone's day. A small act of kindness can make all the difference to someone who is struggling.

Listen More

Taking the time to listen more is one of the kindest things you can do. Being present while you hear is a superpower and a blessing. People feel seen and heard when you listen with presence. Listening without thinking about what you will say next is an act of kindness.

Express It

Kindness only really counts when you express it. Say thank you, tell people you appreciate them, and tell them you are there to help. Make an effort to express appreciation as often as you can.

Your Next Action Steps

    1. Tell one person how much they mean to you, and why you appreciate them.
    2. The next time someone angers you, back away from the situation and give yourself time to think. Reflect on anything you could have done differently. Put yourself in their shoes. If you see where they came from, let them know.
    3. Write the birthdays of the people you know on your calendar. When their birthdays approach, send them a card. You will be surprised how much this means to them.

Kindness isn’t just about grand gestures; it’s found in our everyday choices—how we treat strangers, respond to challenging moments, and support those around us. The beauty of kindness is that it has a ripple effect. When you lead with compassion, positivity, and sincerity, you encourage others to do the same.

Practicing kindness in simple ways—whether through listening, expressing appreciation, or showing empathy—helps create a world that is a little brighter, gentler, and much more connected. So, why not start today? A small act of kindness might mean more than you realize.
